The practice

Small by design.

Halogen is one engineer, a short client list, and an unreasonable standard for what ships.

Philosophy

Code is a
craft object.

Nine years across fintech, luxury commerce, and developer tooling taught me one thing: quality is not a phase at the end of a project. It's a decision made a hundred times a day — in the schema, in the easing curve, in the error message nobody thought anyone would read.

I take on a handful of engagements a year. Each gets my full attention, a written architecture, weekly ships, and a handover your team will actually enjoy inheriting.

Principles

How the work is done

01

Measure, then move

No rewrite begins before the numbers say it should. Instinct proposes; data disposes.

02

Ship weekly

Real releases to real environments, every week, from week one.

03

Write everything down

Architecture docs, decision logs, runbooks. The code outlives the engagement.

04

Respect the reader

Code is read a hundred times more than it's written. I write for the reader.

Toolbox

Chosen tools,
held lightly.

The stack serves the problem — never the reverse. These are the instruments I reach for most.
